On the way home earlier today we were held up at a set of traffic lights. Then I saw a customer from Machine Mart who had just bought a mobile tool storage box and was about to put it in the boot of her Fiesta.
I saw two staff wheeling it out and the lady opened the tailgate and I just couldn’t believe it. The boot was full to the parcel shelf of crap and full carrier bags.
After a couple of minutes I had to take a couple of pictures, as you do. She had already moved a dozen things into the rear foot well buy the time I got my camera out.
Then as she got bored of moving the stuff from the boot and putting the rear parcel shelf in the rear footwell also, by getting one of the guys to help lift the unit into the boot and on top of the two thirds of a full boot of stuff.
Who goes to pick up a unit like that without making sure there is space in the boot for the unit.

If she’s anything like me, she does all of her Gumtree, eBay and shop purchase collections in one big run.

I just couldn’t believe it as she opened the boot and I saw the boot was packed and then she tried to put this thing in. They briefly tried to get it in the passenger side rear door.
No planning.

A cast iron stove for 99 pounds? Heck that’s a good deal.

Ye’, that’s the start of it. It adds up when you add the chimney test and any relevant exhaust pipes and insulation.

Ye’, I’d love a load of garage tools and equipment but first off I want a garage.

I used to work at a sporting good store. It took far too long to convince a man that we wouldn’t load a 600+ pound safe into his late 80’s Accord hatchback.

Ye’, I learned years ago, custome rs are stupid.
In fact at my place, I’ll see a customer do something stupid and make a polite comment. They’ll say, ‘well at least you didn’t laugh and call me stupid’. To which I reply, ‘ye’, I wouldn’t do that while your still here, I’ll wait until your around the corner, then I’ll call you a stupid idiot’. Then we both have a brief laugh (because they think I’m kidding).

There was a huge mirror above our fireplace when we moved into our house. I put it on Craigslist free just to get it out of here. The dude who claimed it, showed up in a late 80's Accord coupe. To carry a 6'x3' piece of mirrored plate glass. He shoved it in the truck as far as it would go, but there was still a good 2-1/2 feet of mirror hanging out over his bumper. I have no idea if he made it home or not, but I doubt it.

I’m surprised it made it off your street
I have definitely seen some truly sketchy transportation options when things are given away or when someone finds an unexpected garage sale bargain.

I bet you have.
My personal favorite was the 16ft jon boat strapped to the roof of a late 90’s Riviera.

Nice!
My personal favorite at the lumber yard, as the 16' long treated 2x12 shoved through the open sun roof of a brand new Mercedes, wedged between the front opening of the sun roof and the package tray. I can’t imagine that sun roof ever shut right again.
